Mona Lou Hemminger, 85, of Goshen, died Friday morning, December 2, 2011, at Courtyard Healthcare. She had been in failing health the last 13 and a half months. She was born October 19, 1926 in Nappanee to Claude J. and Hazel A. (Phillips) Miner. She married Jerry D. Hemminger October 17, 1948 in Nappanee. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas J. (Carolyn) Hemminger of Muncie and Michael M. (Ellen) Hemminger of Goshen; two grandchildren, Kevin Hemminger of Muncie, and Jason (Nicole) Hemminger of Fishers; and two great-granddaughters, Hayleigh and Kyleigh Hemminger, both of Fishers. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary E. Schmeltz, E. Virginia Tazelar, and Wava F. Harrington. A 1944 graduate of Nappanee High School, Mrs. Hemminger was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren where she enjoyed singing in the choir. A former member of Maplecrest Country Club, she also enjoyed playing euchre, the organ and the piano. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 4, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2011, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Bev Weaver, Goshen City Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Bremen Municipal Cemetery, Bremen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen City Church of the Brethren or Diabetes Foundation.
