Miriam M. Sutter Albrecht

Miriam M. Sutter Albrecht, 86, of Goshen, died Wednesday evening, March 31, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Hopedale, Illinois, on May 16, 1923, to Lee and Alma (Nafziger) Sutter.  She married Alfred J. Albrecht on June 10, 1951 in Hopedale.  He died June 23, 2008. Baptized at age 14 and a member of College Mennonite Church, Mrs. Albrecht graduated in 1950 from Goshen College.  She taught school for 36 years in Illinois and Indiana.  She was a member of Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and the Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by a son, James "Jamie" (Coralyn) Albrecht and a daughter, Trish (James) Yoder, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Alan and Jeff Albrecht, and Lynelle and Joel Yoder; two brothers, Willis (Esther) Sutter of Eureka, Illinois, and Earl (Margaret) Sutter of Goshen; and three sisters, Edna (Roy) Springer of Fisher, Illinois, Lela Sutter of Goshen, and Jean (John) King of Aiken, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernal and Dennis Sutter, and three sisters, Alice Wenger, Ina Sutter and Oleeda Albrecht. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 9, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, where an 11a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010, funeral service will be conducted.  Pastor Klaudia Smucker will officiate. A private family burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sutter Family Memorial Scholarship at Goshen College or Donor’s Choice.
