Miriam Sieber Lind, 88, of Goshen, IN, died on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the home of Dan and Anne Lind. She was born in Filer, Idaho, on July 19, 1920, to Charles and Bertha Sieber, and was married to Millard C. Lind on April 17, 1943, in Goshen.  He survives. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Hernley (Goshen) and Ruth Reist (Salina, Oklahoma), her husband, her children and their spouses – Dan and Anne Lind (Goshen), Jonathan and Anda Lind (Manassas, Virginia), Timothy and Suzanne Lind (Kinshasa, Congo), Matthew and Kathy Lind (Goshen), James and Kate Lind (Three Rivers, Michigan), Sarah Lind and James Rhem (Madison, Wisconsin), and Dirk Vardaman (Goshen) – eighteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.  A graduate of Goshen College in 1942, Miriam was a member of the Goshen College Mennonite Church. Her greatest passion was the raising of her seven children and the nurturing of her grandchildren and many friendships.  In addition she had a life-long love for writing.  For many years she authored the monthly columns Hill Journal and On the Corner in the Mennonite church periodical Christian Living, and she also published several books as well as numerous articles and poems.  She was closely associated with the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County (ADEC) and worked as an ADEC visitor, accompanying parents of newborn infants with disabilities through their child’s first year of life. A memorial service will be held at the Goshen College Mennonite Church on Sunday, August 31, 2008, at 4:00 pm, with visitation from 2:00 to 3:45. Arrangements are being handled by the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  The family is creating a legacy sponsorship of children through the Christian Children’s Fund. Contributions may be made to The Miriam Lind Memorial Fund, and sent to 1311 Winsted Drive, Goshen, IN 46526.
