Mildred Zook, 96, of Goshen passed away early Thursday morning, October 26, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born May 10, 1921 in Mylo, North Dakota to Peter and Nancy (Yoder) Yoder.
On August 12, 1951 she married Durbin Zook in Surrey, North Dakota. He died November 13, 2007.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Eberly of Narvon, Pennsylvania and Nadine (Daniel) Zook Miller of Goshen; two sons, Rodney (Julia Penner-Zook) Zook of Fresno, California and Russell (Linda) Zook of Surprise, Arizona; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ottis Yoder of Minnesota.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Mildred graduated high school at the age of 25 and continued her education at Hesston College, Kansas earning her Associate’s degree. She taught in a one room school for several years.
She was an active member in churches she attended, most recently involved at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Goshen. Mildred enjoyed time with family and friends and was an avid quilter and Scrabble player.
A private family graveside service will take place at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
Family, friends, and others who were touched by Mildred’s life are invited to a celebration of life memorial service Monday, October 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, 909 N. 6th Street, Goshen. Pastor Jane Stoltzfus Buller will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be directed to Mennonite Central Committee.
