Mildred A. (Stroud) Weddell, 80, died early Thursday morning, November 18, 2010, at Courtyard Healthcare. She had been in declining health since September 2007. She was born June 3, 1930, in Decatur, Michigan, to the late Horace and Bulah (Osborne) Zerbe. She married Houston “Cleo” Stroud on June 24, 1950. He died in December 1964. She then married James D. Weddell, Sr. He died in January 1996. Surviving are daughters, Melinda Miller and Joetta (Wallace) Vanhook, III, both of Goshen; sons, Bill Stroud, Jerry Stroud, Houston (Penny) Stroud, Jr., Roger Stroud and James Weddell, Jr., all of Goshen; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Barber of Michigan. She was preceded by a brother and five sisters. A homemaker, Mrs. Weddell spent much of her time babysitting children. She enjoyed reading and talking with friends; and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by everyone. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11:00 a.m., funeral service will be conducted by Pastor John Wanders, Greene Road Church. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Decatur, Michigan. Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
