Mildred A. Stark, 85, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning, December 6, 2005, at Goshen General Hospital where she had been a patient one day. She was born July 9, 1920, in Elkhart County, Indiana, to Anton and Esther (Hoffman) Michel. She married Robert L. Stark on September 29, 1940. He died March 10, 1988. Mrs. Stark worked at Markley Enterprises, Elkhart and did bookkeeping for her husband’s business, Stark Excavating. She was a member of the Sugar Grove Church. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937 as valedictorian of her class. She was a former member of the Happy Hoosier Home Ec Club and served as a 4-H leader for many years. She is survived by three daughters, Eileen (Bemis) Martin of Goshen, Karen (John) Burnham of Elkhart and Marcia (Wayne) Sholtey of Syracuse; 5 grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Barnes of Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Sholtey in 2004. Friends will be received 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 7 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:30 a.m. funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 8, 2005. Pastor Ed Arnold will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Radio Bible Class of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
