Mildred "Millie" Mumaw

Mildred “Millie” Mumaw, 79, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, June 25, 2006, at her home following an extended illness.   She was born November 14, 1926 in Goshen, to Gideon D. and Amanda (Stutzman) Bontrager.  On June 5, 1953, in Goshen, she married Lowell Mumaw.  He survives.   A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Mumaw, worked as a cashier for Everett’s uptown store for 22 years.  When the store closed she worked at The Window helping people get funding for heating bills.  She also worked for Real Services.   A charter member of the Benton Mennonite Church, she provided flower arrangements for the Sunday morning services for 22 years from her gardens.  She volunteered at Goshen Genera Hospital for 17 years, Switchboard Concern for 24 years and at The Window.   Mrs. Mumaw is survived by her husband, Lowell; two daughters, Marcia Irene (Curtis) Jantz of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Gloria Jean (Robert) Verbanac of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Eric James (Kim) Mumaw of Goshen; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.  Also surviving are two sisters, Irene (Don) Papke of Lakewood, Colorado and Ruby Wilden of Goshen; and two brothers, Marion (Buetta) Bontrager of Hesston, Kansas, and Perry “Pete” (Marty) Bontrager of Littleton, Colorado.   She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Kuhns and a brother, Dan Bontrager.   Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.   A 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2006, service will be held at the Benton Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Pastor Doug Kaufman and former pastoral intern, Karla Stoltzfus will officiate.   Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton Mennonite Church or to The Window.
