Mildred S. “Millie” Long, 89, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, March 12, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been a resident for two years. She was born August 21, 1916, in Goshen, to Chauncey and Ida V. (Vance) Stroup. On April 8, 1950, she married Walter W. Long. He survives. Mrs. Long was a 1934 Millersburg High School graduate and a member of the First United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading novels. She had worked as a bookkeeper for more than 20 years for Goshen Community Schools. She had her husband then enjoyed spending winters in Sebring, Florida, for over 15 years. She is survived by her husband, Walter; a daughter, Sharon (Edward) Wright of Goshen, six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Bird and Mary Stouder. Friends may call 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, at The Meetinghouse, at Greencroft, Goshen, and then from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A private family burial of cremains will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Church of Christ.
