Michelle Renee Omic'

Michelle Renee (Miller) Omic’, 38, of Elkhart, passed away early Saturday morning, November 7, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital.  She had become ill on Saturday.  Michelle was five months pregnant, expecting a baby girl, Leila. Michelle was born to Don L. and Isy (Vander  Werf) Miller on June 2, 1971, in Iowa City, Iowa. They survive. She married Armin “Archie” Omic’ on February 10, 1996, in Bosnia.  He survives and is serving with the United States Army in Iraq. She was a graduate of Iowa Mennonite School in 1989.  She then graduated from Goshen College in 1993, receiving a degree in elementary education.  She also held an associate’s degree in accounting.  She was a very loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Jade. She is survived by one daughter, Jade Isabella Omic’, age four; her maternal grandmother, Martha Vander Werf of Newton, Kansas;  two brothers, Tony (Leah) Miller of Goshen and AJ (Bonnie) Miller of Foley, Minnesota; a niece, Madison Miller of Goshen; and a nephew, Quinn Miller of Goshen.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emina, who died in 2008; and on brother, Don Miller, Junior, who died in 1984.  A 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009, memorial service will be held at River Oaks Community Church of Elkhart with Pastor Scott Tilley officiating.  An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, committal service will be held at Kalona Cemetery, Kalona, Iowa.  Memorial contributions may be made out to the Omic’ Family for Jade’s future educational needs.
