Mervin D. Zook, 84, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 surrounded by his family.
He was born July 2, 1937 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania to Ellrose D. and Frances (Loucks) Zook.
On May 30, 1958 he married Joan King in West Liberty, Ohio. She died October 12, 2014.
He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia J. Zook of Mishawaka, Susan D. (Kevin Gross) Zook of Goshen and Wendy A. Zook of Elkhart.
Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Merlin W. Zook.
A 1959 graduate of Goshen College, Merv earned graduate degrees from Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame. In his career, he worked at Goshen College, Mennonite Mutual Aid and retired from the Elkhart County data processing department. In his retirement years, he was an active volunteer at College Mennonite Church and Greencroft. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors needing computer assistance. He was a learning enthusiast and took classes on a wide range of academic topics throughout his life. He strived to practice a healthy lifestyle, which included being an avid bicyclist.
Merv was a loving husband and father and devoted to his family. He was a very good listener and will be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness.
In keeping with Merv’s wishes, cremation will take place.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 3, from 1 p.m. until the 1:30 memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Phil Waite will officiate. The livestream link will posted at www.yoderculpfuneralhome.com .
Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
