Mervin Myers, 101, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, January 26, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital where he had been a patient for three days.  He had been in failing health since 2006. He was born in Elkhart on March 25, 1906 to Henry and Clara (Stump) Myers.  He married Thelma Maye Chapman in Nappanee on June 30, 1934.  She survives. A 1926 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Myers farmed 40 acres for many years in addition to managing Marvel Service Station on Pike Street for 35 years, and working at Murry’s and Oakridge Cemetery. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Maurine L. (Larry E. ) Troeger of Elkhart, two grandchildren, Brenda Leighton and Brian Troeger and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Nicholas Leighton. He was preceded in death by an infant brother. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 30 at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Greggory Lanzen and Associate Pastor Jim Schrock of the First Baptist Church, Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or First Baptist Church.
