Merrie J. Rhude

Merrie J. Rhude, 86, of Elkhart passed away early Sunday morning, July 12, 2015 at Kindred Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born November 13, 1928 in Goshen to Ted and Georgia (Howard) Grover. On September 1, 1950 she married Charles E. Rhude in Fort Wayne. He died in October 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Sheila (William) Miller of Bristol and Connie Nihart of South Bend; a son, Gary Rhude of Elkhart; eight grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Rensberger of Goshen; and a brother, George Grover of Elkhart. Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Gwen Rhude and a brother Ron Grover. Merrie was a homemaker and supported the P.T.L. Club and the Jerry Lewis Foundation. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Craig Garber will officiate Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
