Merlene Janet Parse

Merlene Janet Parse, 85, of Goshen, died early Monday morning, May 6, 2013, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born November 13, 1927 in LaGrange County to Mervin and Irma (Miller) Kaufman. She married Robert Parse July 28, 1946 in Goshen. He died October 29, 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Jon) Stump of Goshen; a son, Thomas (Faith Nava) Parse of Fairbanks, Alaska; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Loren (Marilyn) Kaufman of Lake Placid, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Phyllis Vandegrift and a granddaughter, Traci Stump. A lifetime resident of the Topeka and Goshen area, Mrs. Parse was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren, Bradenton, Florida, and the Elkhart County Campers. Friends may call from 11 a.m., until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Knight, Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren, Bradenton.
