Merle E. Kauffmann

Merle E. Kauffmann, 75, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, October 23, 208, at Courtyard Healthcare Center. He was born on a farm near Minier, Illinois, on November 15, 1932, to John and Alma (Litwiller) Kauffmann. He was baptized and became a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church in Hopedale, Illinois. He attended Hicks Grade School and Minier Community High School.  In 1954 he left the family farm to attend Los Angeles Soul Clinic School from which he graduated in 1955 with a missionary appointment.  Mr. Kauffmann lived in the west until 1969.  After retirement he moved to the Goshen area. He worked various jobs on the farm and in factories in both Illinois and Indiana.  In later years he worked at ADEC. He is survived by a sister, Miriam Kauffmann of Goshen; four brothers, Ivan (Lola) Kauffmann and Norman (Sharon) Kauffmann, both of Goshen, Warren (Maxine) Kauffmann of Normal, Illinois, and Floyd Kauffmann of Imperial Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Weldon Kauffman; and an infant sister, Nadine Kauffmann. A family memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Courtyard of Goshen or ADEC.
