Merle Ray Kauffman

Merle Ray Kauffman, 87, of Goshen, died at his home Thursday morning, January 2, 2013. He was born May 14, 1926 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to Ora M. and Lorma (Yoder) Kauffman. On May 14, 1948 he married Stefanie Antesberger in Salzburg, Austria. She died February 19, 2012. Mr. Kauffman is survived by two daughters, Gertrude "Trudy" Kauffman of Goshen and Stephanie "Darlene" Hill of Union, Michigan; a son, Bob Kauffman of Katy, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Doris M. (Charles) Secrest of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Karen K. (Dossie) Melton of Manchester, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Joe Kauffman; three sisters, Berylene Corbin, Charlotte Markey and Melva Mast; and a grandson, Daniel Kauffman. A veteran, he worked at Conn for 17 years and St. Joe Valley Bank for 17 years. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10 a.m. Rev. Father Tony Steinacker will officiate.
