Merle David Graybill, 83, of Goshen, died Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Elkhart General Hospital. He had a stroke on March 24, 2020.
He was born April 1, 1937, in Dunn County, Wisconsin to Robert and Edith (Miller) Graybill.
On September 25, 1955 he married Inez Flora in Elkhart County.
She survives, along with six children, Cheryl (Glenn) Zehr of Wasilla, Alaska, Lincoln (Karen) Graybill, Vernon Graybill and Marla (Bob) Brenneman, all of Goshen, Jenny (Dwight) Kinter of Newport News, Virginia and Ben (Tami) Graybill of Goshen; 16 grandchildren, Jami (Chris), Melissa, Megan (Brock), Lucas, Sabrina (Chadd), Alex, Calvin (Ashley), Karli (AJ), Amber (Matt), Kyle, Jezra (Becky), Breanna (James), Samuel, Taylor, Lindsey and Anthony; 10 great-grandchildren; Annie, Helena, Brooklyn, Cyrus, Darius, Addy, Ellie, Simon, Ari and Darcy; siblings, Ida Mae Graybill, Anita Blocher, Bruce (Sun) Graybill and Brent (Mary) Graybill and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dennis.
Merle worked at Starcraft and Smoker Craft Boat Company since 1957 where he designed and built boats and worked in the office. He worked and volunteered as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) right up until his stroke. He served as pastor of Union Chapel for a few years.
He will be remembered as a devoted, generous and kind-hearted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Merle loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, his neighbors and friends to the end.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020, from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Son-in-law, Glenn Zehr, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to CAPS where he volunteered as a CASA for 12 years, or a charity of your choice.
