Menno A. Kauffman

Menno A. Kauffman, 81, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, July 5, 2009, at Greencroft Gables where he had been the past four days.  He had been in failing health since June 21, 2009. He was born in Kenmare, North Dakota, on November 29, 1927, to Alpha and Alma (Nusbaum) Kauffman. He married Mabel Marie Yoder on February 12, 1949, in Goshen.  She survives. A New Paris area resident since 1958, Mr. Kauffman was owner of M & M Wood Shavings and Menno Kauffman Trucking. He also raised poultry for Pine Manor.   A 1944 graduate of Hesston Academy, he was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris, where he was a former deacon. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; six children, Shirley Ann Kauffman of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Lee (Donna) Kauffman of Harrisonville, Pennsylvania, Larry Lee (Lavina) Kauffman of Wayward, Wisconsin, Richard Lee (Stella) Kauffman of New Paris, Cheryl Ann (Ernest) Shaver of Phoenix, Arizona, and Carol Ann (Glen) Ramer of New Paris; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Bontrager of Goshen; and a brother, Harold (Darlene) Kauffman of Conrath, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ezra, Mark, Andrew, and Chancey Kauffman and a great-granddaughter, Emily Grace Kauffman in 2006. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 8 and Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. A 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Salem Mennonite Church, CR 46, New Paris.  The Home Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery, New Paris. Memorial contributions may be given to Northern Youth Programs or Heralds of Hope, Inc.
