Menno Beachy, Jr., 77, of Elkhart, died Tuesday morning, July 22, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital after a ten month illness. He was born in Honeyville, Indiana, on December 12, 1930, to the late Menno S. and Elizabeth (Yoder) Beachy. He married Velda Slabach on November 27, 1952 and they divorced in 1977. He then married Nancy Guyer Worl of Marion. She survives. A retired truck driver, Mr. Beachy worked 20 years for Starcraft Boat. He was a member of Maple City Chapel and American Legion. He was an avid harness racing and Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda D. (Craig) Miller of Amboy, Indiana; four sons, Wayne E. (Emma) Beach of Goshen, Keith R. (Patricia) Beachy of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Karol D. (Patty) Beachy of Nappanee and Ken L. (Anna) Beachy of Wakarusa; a step-daughter, Gail (Charlie) Books of Elkhart; a step-son, Adam (Kimberly) Worl of Fairmont, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four brothers, Elmer (Alice) Beachy of Nappanee, Daniel M. (Ada) Beachy and Mahlon (Clara Beachy, both of Millersburg, and Pete M. (Ruby) Beachy of Goshen. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sadie Mast, Susie Graber and Amanda Petersheim; a brother, Melvin Beachy; and a step-daughter, Dawn Worl. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Maple City Chapel, Goshen. Pastors Gary Miller and Mel Shetler of Maple City Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Yoder Corner Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorial contributions may be given to Crossing Fresh Start, 1202 W. Pike St., Goshen, IN 46526.
