Melvin Ray Chupp

Melvin R. Chupp, 87, of Nappanee, died Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Goshen Hospital.

He was born January 12, 1933 in Rensselaer to Emanuel J. and Susan (Hershberger) Chupp.

On September 3, 1955, he married Loretta Jones in Goshen.

She survives along with five children, James (Jennifer) Chupp of Milford, Maralie (Mel) Stutzman of Nappanee, Cindy (Chuck) Somers of Palm Coast, Florida, Michael W. Chupp of Constantine, Michigan and Herbert N. (Karina) Chupp of Battle Creek, Michigan; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Paul Chupp, Janet Larson, Carolyn Welch and Ruby Charles.

Mr. Chupp attended Waterford United Church of Christ and was a member of Kalamazoo Church of the Nazarene.  He was a great father with diverse hobbies including bowling, fishing and cars.

For 37 years he worked in production at Smoker Craft and Starcraft.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital.
