Melanie Lee Collins, 68, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at her home Tuesday morning, July 3, 2012. She had recently been hospitalized. She was born December 20, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio to George Breckenridge and Minerva Maude (Clarke) Miles. She married James R. Collins December 12, 1964 in Dayton. He survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Robin Collins of Elkhart; two grandsons, Kyle Alexander Diamond and James Stephen Collins-Brown; and a brother, George B. (Karen) Miles, III of Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a son, James Christopher Collins in 1991 and a brother, David Clarke Miles. A 1961 graduate of Oakwood High School, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Collins attended St. Claire College for two years. She worked as a teller for Penn Credit Union and volunteered for Elkhart County as a juvenile probation officer. Yoder-Culp Crematory will cremate her body. Service arrangements are pending at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
