Melanie Jane Cabiness

Melanie Jane Cabiness, 35, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, following recent back surgery. She was born August 20, 1977, in Richmond, to Lloyd Cabiness and Jean E. (Stump) Barton. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Jean and Stephen Barton of Elkhart; a brother, Andrew (Jessica) Cabiness of Jeffersonville; two step-sisters, Jennifer Barton of Middlebury and Amanda (William) Grubbs of Niles, Michigan; two nieces, Audra Cabiness and Madalynn Grubbs; a nephew, Ian Cabiness; and a step-grandmother, Carol Barton of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her father in January. Melanie moved to Goshen from Indianapolis a year ago. She worked as a customer service representative for Apptical Sales and Service. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 16, 2012, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Elkhart County Humane Society or IOPO (Indiana Organ Procurement Organization).
