Maynard J. Kauffman, 71, of Goshen, passed away at home Saturday evening, January 4, 2014. He was diagnosed with ALS in September 2012. He was born February 10, 1942 in Goshen to Milo and Katie (Yoder) Kauffman. He married Joyce K. Eichelberger January 6, 1962 in Emma. She survives along with two daughters, Tina R. (Thomas) Duncan, Fort Wayne and Tonya D. Rutter, Goshen; three sons, Scott D. (Sally) Bourbon, and Rick E. (Laura) and Adam B. Kauffman, both of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosetta (Joe) Koch, Spencerville; and a brother, Cheryle "Chuck" (Connie) Kauffman, Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Anthony J. Kauffman. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Kauffman farmed and worked as a carpenter at Carriage for 13 years. He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church and had attended Burket United Methodist Church while living in Warsaw. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 and 9 to 10:15 a.m., Friday at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church where a 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2014, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Terry Diener will officiate. Burial will follow at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the ALS Association, Indiana Chapter for Team Maynard.
