Maxine J. VanCuren, 96, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Healthcare where she had been the past five years. She was born Oct. 31, 1916 in Hocking County, Ohio to Harland M. Marks and Zora Maxine (Hamilton) Marks Bebee. She married Lawrence Ray VanCuren June 26, 1937. He died May 7, 1978. She is survived by two sons, James R. (Judy) and David (Cindy) VanCuren, both of Goshen; six grandchildren, James R. (Annette), Jeffrey A. (Emily), Jason M. (Tisha), Curtis M. (Jennifer), Christopher D. (Judy) and Craig A. (Amberly) VanCuren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Cohagan, Springfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Esther Mosier. A Goshen resident since 1980, Mrs. VanCuren worked as a secretary in the Lancaster, Ohio public schools and then at Kentucky Christian University, Grayson, Ken. She also worked in the admissions office for Goshen College. She was a member of Goshen Christian Church. Friends may call from 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial celebration Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Goshen Christian Church. Pastor Kim Huffman will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Grayson, Kentucky. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Christian Church.
