Maxine Elizabeth Price Ditmars, 103, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born December 26, 1917, in Syracuse to Floyd D.W. and Grace Pearl (Ray) Price.

On March 17, 1939, she married Harlan Alvin Ditmars in Goshen.  He died May 25, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores (Winston, Sr. “Ed”) Wakeland of Goshen; a son, Dennis (Irene) Ditmars of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Karen Ditmars of Middlebury; a son-in-law, Phillip (Mary) Bailey of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Bailey in 2006; a son, Darien in 2018; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Prihoda; a grandson-in-law, Dale Manges’ two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Seth; and three siblings, Lucille Ernsberger, Edith Stump and Guy Price.

Maxine graduated from Goshen High School in 1937 and was a charter member of the Goshen Women of the Moose Lodge #836 since 1947.  Active in community events, Maxine volunteered as a Campfire Girls leader and with the Red Cross Canteen, the Co-Op Harvest Basket, Elkhart and the Goshen City Election Board from 1967-69.  She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

She worked at Kundred Gladiola Farm, Goshen; Kercher Sunrise Orchards and helped her husband, Harlan with his business, Ditmars and Veach, with interior and exterior decorating.

Visitation will be Monday, November 1, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 2 funeral service will be held.  Pastor Tony Brinson will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
