Maxine Coursey

September 8, 1923 — December 8, 2014

Maxine LaVerne Coursey joined her husband, James Orval Coursey in eternal rest at 7:32 p.m. Monday December 8, 2014. She was the daughter of Lennie and Bruce Stancombe born, September 8, 1923, in Bloomington, Indiana She is survived by her three daughters, Leah (Dan) DiCenzo, of Winter Park, Florida, Mary Coursey (John Bencsics), of Goshen, Indiana and Lynn Coursey, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, four grandchildren, Ian, Austin and Teagan Bencsics and Alyssa Sheean, and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Tiernan Bencsics; her brother, Raymond Stancombe and sister-in-law, Mary, of South Bend, and their four children. Maxine achieved much in her lifetime, she held a private pilot license, and as an artist created beautiful copper enamel and silk paintings as well as water color and mixed media works. She taught at the South Bend Art Center and learned her craft at Ancilla College and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. She was well loved and leaves many friends all over the country, especially Plymouth where she resided most of her life. May she rest eternally in the peace of the Lord. The family is holding a private gathering to honor her life. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
