Maxine Mae Carlson

July 19, 1925 — January 1, 2012

Maxine Mae Carlson, 86, of Goshen, died Sunday afternoon, January 1, 2012 at Greencroft Healthcare. She had been ill the past two years. She was born July 19, 1925 in Alto, Michigan, to the late John and Beulah (Norris) McCulloch. She married George H. Carlson March 24, 1945 in Romeo, Michigan. He survives along with two daughters, Juanita Graser of Taylor, Michigan and Connie (Donald) Garber of Goshen; a son, Bruce (Pamela) Carlson of Rochester Hills, Michigan; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kiel and two brothers, Edward and Raymond McCulloch. A registered nurse, Mrs. Carlson worked in long term care, retiring in 1987 as head nurse at Shawnee Manor, Lima, Ohio. A graduate of North Central Michigan College, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Goshen. She enjoyed oil painting. Friends may call from 1:30 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at The Gathering Place at Evergreen Place on the Greencroft campus, Goshen. Pastor Dick Rinearson of St. Mark's United Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and cremains will be scattered at a later date at Greencroft Memorial Gardens, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, Midwest Chapter.
