Max Grimshaw, born in Oak Park, Illinois, died Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the age of 98 in Syracuse, Indiana.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty; four children; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

In his wife’s words, “He was a gentle, faithful man. He lived like he should and he followed God.” Always active in his local church, for many years he also participated in distributing Bibles through Gideons International.

After being a radio-man in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Max was trained as a metallurgical engineer. He started working for foundries, and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company as Supervisor of Engineering Services for their Aurora, Illinois plant.

Max was an outgoing and adventurous man, who was always interested in people and in learning new things. His example of a godly man has affected generations of his own family as well as those of other families.

Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2024 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Community Church in New Paris, IN where a 3:30 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Family friend, Pastor Jim Tormey will officiate.

Burial will take place in Callao, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to Gideons International; https://www.gideons.org/ .

Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
