Max Albert Fiandt, 90, went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 8, 2019. He was born in Kendallville on June 20, 1928 to Dallas and Talitha (Gehring) Fiandt. On May 15, 1955 he married Joy Williamson.
Max is survived by his wife, Joy Fiandt, and their children; Arick (Janet) Fiandt, Chris (Nancy) Fiandt, Brad (Debra)Fiandt, and Jewel (John)Sawatsky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Bailey, Matt, Noah, Oliver, Jara, Jena, and Jayla; five great-grandchildren; and one sister. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg and a grandson Maxwell.
Max honorably served his country in the US army.
In 1957, he became a school teacher at Shipshewana, IN. Following this, he served as a teacher and vice-principal at Concord for 16 years. He then transferred to Goshen High School in 1975 as vice-principal and later as principal. He retired in 1990 as the assistant superintendant of the Goshen school system.
Max was a member of the Middlebury United Methodist Church.
A celebration of life service will occur on Sunday, April 28 at 10:30 at the United Methodist Church in Middlebury, right after the Sunday morning worship. A fellowship meal will occur after the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist of Middlebury.
