Mauveen Coyne

February 26, 1930 — June 10, 2010

Mauveen Coyne, 80, died of pancreatic cancer Thursday morning, June 10, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital.       She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on February 26, 1930 to the late Gordon and Laura " Bobbie" (Shepard) McKenty.  She married Francis John "Frank" Coyne on June 21, 1952,  in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Martha (Larry) Clipp of Champaign, Illinois;  five sons, Steve Coyne, Chris (Vickie) Coyne and David (Laura) Coyne, all of Goshen, Patrick (Barbara) Coyne of Rialto, California,  and Daniel (Emily) Coyne of Evanston, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stuart McKenty. Mrs. Coyne moved to Goshen in 1972 and  was a  member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church.   After raising six children, she worked as a nurse at Goshen General Hospital and as a school nurse for Goshen Community Schools. She was active in numerous organizations that promoted social justice, youth advocacy, drug abuse prevention, cancer research (having been a breast cancer survivor) and reform within the Catholic Church.   Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 14, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010, funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Child Abuse Prevention Services, Boys and Girls Club of Goshen or Support Our Kids.
