Maurice D. “Maurie” McCally, 93, of Goshen, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
He was born December 6, 1925 in Goshen to Frank Dewitt and Julia (Wilden) McCally.
On August 30, 1953 he married Sandra S. Gee at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.
She survives along with four children, Martha (Gary) Kazmierczak of Union, Michigan, Julie McCally of Elkhart, David D. McCally of Pine Island, Florida and Jane (Jim) Stewart of Edwardsburg, Michigan; five grandchildren, Kaleigh (Christian) Estrup, Lindsey (Michael) Rangel, Holly, Nick and Sam McCally; two great-grandsons, Noah and Spencer; and a sister, Julie Cotton of Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Maurice was a 1943 graduate of Goshen High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, Terre Haute. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. McCally was a dedicated employee of Wheelabrator Frye, Inc., Mishawaka, retiring after 65 years as a general manager and vice-president of marketing.
He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, where he served as a deacon and an elder. He was a loving father and loved to travel. He was a generous donor to Boys and Girls Club, Goshen, and enjoyed reading, smoking cigars, fine wine and dining, working out, supporting charitable causes and family get togethers at Siesta Key and the cabins. He was a snazzy dresser and wore crazy socks.
Visitation will begin Sunday, December 16, 2018, one hour prior to the 2:30 p.m. funeral service at First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Rev. Alan Griffin will officiate.
Memorial gifts may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen.
Private burial will be Monday at Violett Cemetery.
