Maurice E. Royer

Maurice E. Royer, 89, of Goshen died early Tuesday morning, May 15, 2007, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.   He was born on April 22, 1918, in Altoona, Indiana, to Warren and Bessie (Comadoll) Royer.  On September 10, 1969, in Ligonier, he married Ruth Irene Gates.  She survives.   Mr. Royer retired in 1982 as a truck driver for Kroger’s, working out of Fort Wayne for 30 years.  He was a member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church.   He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two step-daughters, Karen K. Winterrowd of Fort Wayne, and Carla J. (Jim) Hamilton of Goshen; five grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Royer of Willard, Ohio.   He was preceded in death by a son Jerry Royer in 1970, and a sister, Virginia Summers.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 17, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Jim Fookes of the Dunlap United Methodist Church will officiate.   Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorials may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
