Matthew M. Simmons

Matthew M. Simmons, 17, of Millersburg, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, August 30, 2013. He was born February 5, 1996 in Goshen, to Heather Simmons. She survives along with a step-father, Billy Silcox; grandparents, Jeri and Gary Simmons of Millersburg; uncle and aunt, Ian and Stacie Simmons of Syracuse; two cousins Paige and Carter Simmons; and a great-grandmother, Patricia Walsh. Matt was a student at Fairfield High School, where he excelled academically, particularly in Physics, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. He was a member of the wrestling team, and also held a job at the Lincolnway Mart in Goshen. Friends may call 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Grace Community Church prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service. Family friend and church elder, Darin Holsopple will officiate. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Matthew Simmons Memorial Fund, c/o Fairfield High School.
