Maryann Vanderreyden

March 23, 1932 — June 20, 2009

MaryAnn VanderReyden, 77, of Elkhart, died early Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at her home, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 23, 1932, to Mads and Lucille Nielsen.  She married Ken VanderReyden on September 24, 1960, in Elkhart.  He survives. A Goshen resident since age 14, Mrs. VanderReyden worked in Accounts Payable at NIBCO for 17 years.  She enjoyed traveling, photography, hot air balloons, the Smoky Mountains and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Lori Floyd and Lisa (Rob) Kent, both of Goshen;  a son, David (Tonya) VanderReyden of Elkhart; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Roger (Sandi) Nielsen and Paul Nielsen, both of Middlebury, and Mike Nielsen of San Diego, California; and a sister-in-law, Jean VanderReyden of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Kent. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 23 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home A 11:00 a.m., funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.  Pastor Mark Tarner of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Goshen will officiate.  Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
