Mary E. VanderWey, 66, of Goshen, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007, as a result of a car/motorcycle accident on College Ave., Goshen. She was born in Northfield, Vermont, on July 10, 1941, to the late Merlin D. and Helen (Sayers) Montgomery. A resident of the area since 1966, Ms. VanderWey worked as a physical therapist in Elkhart County for 38 years. She was a member of Greene Road Church and belonged to the Model T Extension Homemakers in Goshen, the American Physical Therapy Association, and Phi Kappa Phi. Ms. VanderWey graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut in 1964 and served in the Air Force after college. She enjoyed gardening, reading and walking. She is survived by a son, Paul A. VanderWey of Anderson, Indiana; a sister, Beverly (Donald) Morgan of Berlin, Vermont; and two brothers, Merlin (Beth) Montgomery of Kokomo, Indiana, and Robert Montgomery of Northfield, Vermont. Friends will be received Sunday afternoon, August 12, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2007, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. John Wanders of Greene Road Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Northfield, Vermont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Animal Hospital.
