Mary L. (Mast) Troyer, 92, died peacefully November 19, 2025 at Waterford Crossing of Goshen, with her family by her side.
She was born October 4, 1933, in LaGrange County to Henry and Edna Mast, the 1st of 5 children. On May 7, 1955 she married Ora Troyer. They met as teenagers in their church youth group and spent their 68 years of marriage living in the Goshen area.
Mary is survived by her children, Renee (Brian) Campbell, Cindy (Todd) Lederman, and Eric (Emily Headings) Troyer, and grandchildren Cole (Emily) Campbell, Joel (Annerose) Lederman, Kenyon (Darcy) Lederman, Sarah (Alex) Roth, Seth & Zoe Troyer, and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her three sisters, Mable Slabaugh, Marlene Delagrange, and Margaret Miller.
Mary’s husband Ora, brother Mervin Mast, and an infant son Stanwyn Lee Troyer preceded her in death.
Mary gave her heart to Jesus at an early age and her qualities of humility, kindness, and service to others were a testament of that early commitment. She and Ora were very active in the church fellowships of East Goshen, Berkey Avenue, and College Mennonite.
Mary used her organizational skills throughout her career, working alongside Ora at Troyer’s Poultry for 15+ years in bookkeeping. After retiring they spent a year volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, then returned to Goshen where she was co-owner of the Secret Garden gift shop for many years with her daughter Renee.
Mary spent her later years volunteering with many different organizations, including Goshen Hospital, Bethany, Goshen College, and Greencroft. Her quiet, gentle personality was appreciated by many. She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoyed spending time with her family, faithfully attending ballgames and musical events of her grandchildren, and was an avid fan of Notre Dame Women’s Basketball too. She loved reading, sewing, puzzles, and traveling.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, from 5:00-8:00 pm at College Mennonite Church and a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 13, at 10:00 am, also at College Mennonite Church.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Goshen College designated for the Troyer International Student Scholarship Fund.
