Mary Veronica Shank Lehman

Mary Veronica Shank Lehman, 93, of Goshen, died Thursday morning, August 21, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She was born January 4, 1921 in Orrville, Ohio to Charles and Crissie (Yoder) Shank. On June 8, 1946 she married Ernest W. Lehman in Goshen. He died March 3, 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Miriam (Whitney) Everest, of Goshen, and Suzan (Mike) Hutchison, of Marion; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois (Glenn) Musselman, of Goshen, and Mary Kay (Howard) Snider, of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Shank, of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a step-mother, Lydia Shank; two sisters, Ruth and Esther Shank; and four brothers, David, Paul, Ernest and John Shank. Mary was a 1943 graduate of Goshen College and served with her husband for 19 years with Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, Pa. and overseas in Jordan, with Palestinian refugees, and the Congo. Mrs. Lehman was also a loving homemaker, a member of Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen, and taught at Jefferson Elementary for three years. Friends may call Monday, August 25, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. David Harper of the Bible Baptist Church, Wakarusa will officiate. A private family burial will precede the service at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial gifts may be directed to M.C.C. - Palestine Refugees.
