Mary Ellen Reiff, 88, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, August 7, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born in Topeka, Indiana, on November 15, 1919, to Valentine and Christina (Schrock) Nisley. She married Carl A. Reiff on August 27, 1938 in Goshen. He died June 20, 2000. A homemaker, Mrs. Reiff worked as a cook at Goshen College for 15 years. She was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren. After retirement she cooked for “lunchtime neighbors” in Middlebury. She is survived by two daughters, Norma Stiver of Hewitt, Texas and Barbara (Larry) Ellenbecker of Arizona; a son, David (Vonda) Reiff of Three Rivers, Michigan; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; three sisters, Agnes Haberstich, Carrie Musselman, and Gladys Howell; and four brothers, Clayton, Orva, Maurice and John Nisley. Friends may call 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 10, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Yvonne Riege of Goshen City Church of the Brethren and Rev. Carldean Merrifield of Solomon Creek United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer International or American Cancer Society.
