Mary Etta Mayward, 72, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, December 21, 2006, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born on March 26, 1934, near Wellman, Iowa, to Vernon and Sadie (Yoder) Marner. She married Robert Mayward on February 14, 1987. He preceded her in 2001. A member of the St. Michael’s and All Angles Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Mayward, had worked as a legal secretary for Miller, Stratvert and Torgerson in Albuquerque. She attended Goshen College and graduated from the University of New Mexico. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Larry) Garrett of Knoxville, Tennessee and Sara DiSanti of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, Charles (Sarah) Hostetler of Benton City, Washington and Richard Hostetler of Atlanta, Georgia; two step-sons, Douglas (Patti) Mayward of Phoenix, Arizona and Richard (Denise) Mayward of Tacoma, Washington; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Fanni (Wilbur) Birky of Goshen, Indiana, and Ruth (Bill) Brenneman of Wellman, Iowa; and a brother, Kenneth V. (Helen) Marner of Rockford, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a step-son, Rod (Barb) Mayward of DeTour, Michigan; a brother, Dale Marner; and infant brothers, Robert and Galen Marner. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at College Mennonite Church. A “Celebration of Life” tea will follow the memorial service in the Koinania Room at the College Mennonite Church. A memorial service will also be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goshen College, Iowa Mennonite School in Kalona or St. Michaels’ and All Angels Episcopal Church, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
