Mary Kathrine Lyman Bartholomew Mary Kathrine Lyman Bartholomew, 61, of Goshen, was found dead from natural causes, in her home Friday afternoon, June 5, 3006. She was born November 13, 1944, in Goshen, to the late AnnaBelle (Juday) Berkey. Dr. Mary Bartholomew adopted her at birth. She did not know she had siblings until 2001, at which time she moved from California to Goshen to be reunited with her birth family. She graduated from a Michigan high school and attended both St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend and the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, majoring in Social Work and Psychology. At Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California she worked, for 14 years, as a lab assistant. Most recently she had worked as a greeter for Meijer Inc. She is survived by four sisters, Belva Belcher of Bristol, Indiana, Ruby (Dewayne) Miller of Goshen, Deloris (Gilbert) Beemer of Colorado Spring, Colorado, and Vada (Richard) Berkey of Middlebury, Indiana; and 3 brothers, Ralph, Thomas and Jeff (Betty) Berkey, all of Goshen. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 8:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or to Pet Refuge, Inc. of Mishawaka.
