Mary “Virginia” Hochstetler, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Elkhart Place, Elkhart.
She was born June 19, 1931 in Nickerson, Kansas to Alfred Francis and Thelma Izora (Durm) Whorton.
On September 16, 1949, she married William Howard Hochstetler. He died in 2001.
She is survived by three children, Richard (Mary) Hochstetler of Goshen, Becky (Charlie) Keller of Wessington Springs, South Dakota and Rhonda (Steve) Herr of Goshen; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Schrock of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Addison Keller and siblings, Arthur Whorton and Eleanor Fee.
Virginia attended People’s Bible Church since the church started where she taught Sunday School and helped lead Bible school. She worked over 30 years at Kroger as a cashier and volunteered at Goshen Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and was a 1949 graduate of Goshen High School.
Friends may call Friday, January 12, 2018 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 2 p.m.funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13. Pastor John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given to People’s Bible Church.
