Mary Phyllis Fortier

March 8, 1933 — April 3, 2014

Mary Phyllis Fortier, 81, of Elkhart, died early Thursday morning, April 3, 2014, at Woodland Manor from complications with pneumonia. She was born March 8, 1933 in Chicago to Ovide and Mary (Sessler) Morissette. She is survived by four children, Cheryl Miller and Edward (Deanna) Fortier, both of Middlebury, Mary (Brian) Humphrey of Osceola and Steven (Kelly) Fortier of Goshen; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Morissette of Fox Lake, Ill.; and two sisters, Vivian Giliello and Lucille Morissette, both of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents. A resident of Elkhart County since 1976, Mrs. Fortier worked in the office at Loveway. She was a 28 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and helped many people recover from alcoholism. She was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 6 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be given to Serenity Hall, 949 Middlebury St., Elkhart, 46516, to benefit Alcoholics Anonymous.
