Mary "Fran" Essig

Mary “Fran” Essig, 80, of Goshen, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 10 at her home.

She was born June 1, 1937 in Willacoochee, Georgia to Troy and Ida (Broadaway) Vickers.

On May 21, 1960, she married Larry Essig.

He survives along with three children, Patricia (Worth) Packer, North Webster, Mark (Shelly) Essig, Mishawaka, and Michael Essig, Goshen; four grandchildren, Ray, Tyler, Marquis, and Dawson Essig; one great-grandchild, Bentley Essig; and siblings, JT (Hilda) Vickers, Magnolia Springs, Alabama, Ethylene (Roy) Whitaker, Foley, Alabama, and Jackie (Spec) Hayward, Gulf Hammock, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise Cason; and brother, Bill Vickers.

Fran worked as a teller for Salem Bank and First State Bank. She also worked at Millers Pizza, Goshen Stamping and at a day care in Mishawaka.  She was a member of Wakarusa Bible Baptist Church.

Friends may call Monday, April 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor David Harper of Wakarusa Bible Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
