Mary Ellen Otto, 80, of Elkhart passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Esther’s Hospice House.
She was born May 30, 1945 in Arthur, Illinois, one of five children born to Levi and Ella (Beachy) Otto. They preceded her in death along with her step-mother, Annie (Miller) Otto; sister, Martha Fern Otto, brother, Milton Otto and Larry Otto, son of Levi and Annie.
Survivors include a sister, Katie Otto Jackson of Sturgis, Michigan; brothers, Emory (Idella) Otto of Lititz, Pennsylvania and Lester (Sherri) Otto of Bristol; and nieces and nephews, Sharla (Dan) Utz of Anderson, South Carolina, Rachel Lynn, of Anderson, South Carolina, Ellen (Greg) Belote of Winter Haven, Florida, Tim (Sheryl) Jackson of Markle, Indiana, Daniel Jackson of Three Rivers, Michigan, Myron Otto and Maria Otto both of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Melinda (Marion) Miller of Albion, Jeremy Otto and Dustin Otto, both of Elkhart, Jon Otto of Tokyo, Japan, David (Sarah) Otto of Boseman, Montana and James (Leah) Otto of Fort Wayne.
Mary Ellen was an active participant with ADEC and Love Way, therapeutic horseback riding. She enjoyed bowling, winning many trophies, and listening to Gospel Music.
She attended Lutheran Church in Elkhart. Her favorite television show was I Love Lucy reruns and anything on the Hallmark Channel. She had a large stuffed animal collection she enjoyed sharing with her family.
Mary Ellen had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. She brought a joyful spirit to all she encountered and made the world a brighter place.
Services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Salem Mennonite Church, 23984 C.R. 46, New Paris. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service.
Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Church cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
