Mary Ellen Bontrager, 81, of Goshen, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at home.
She was born June 1, 1937 in Shipshewana to Jacob and Sarah (Yoder) Kropf.
On January 28, 1962 she married David F. Bontrager.
He survives along with three sons, DeWayne (Annette) Bontrager of Goshen, Kenneth (Heather) Bontrager of Nappanee and Linford (Wanda) Bontrager of Goshen; a daughter, Frances (Mervin) Miller of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Michaela, Kylee, Emilee, Brock, Luke, Scot and Stuart Bontrager and Miranda and Sierra Miller; three sisters, Dorothy (Vernon) Thomas of Middlebury, and Norma Schrock and LaVerda (Devon) Bechtel, both of Goshen; a brother, Omer (Sue) Kropf of Syracuse and a sister-in-law, Lorene Kropf of Goshen.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Orvin Kropf.
Mrs. Bontrager was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bontrager helped on the family farm, Rolling Acres.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church where she was involved with the sewing group. As a quilter, she made a quilt for each of her grandchildren.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church. Pastor Ben Shirk will officiate.
Burial will follow in Miller 8 Square Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Mount Joy or World Missionary Press.
