Mary I. Davidson, 84, died late Saturday night, January 9, 2010, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, where she was admitted on September 28, 2004. She moved to Elkhart County from Kentucky in 1968. She was born on April 26, 1925, in Mt. Pisgah, Kentucky, to the late Proctor and Lizzie (Hurt) Patton. She married Otha Davidson Jr. on January 1, 1948, in Monticello, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1990. A homemaker, Mrs. Davidson was a kind-spirited woman who loved to quilt and garden. She was also well known for her fried chicken. She is survived by three daughters, Betsy Penrose, Goshen, Loretta (Rick) Kline, Avilla, Indiana, Becky (Larry) Kauffman, New Paris; four sons, Everett (Sherrie) Patton, New Paris, Danny (Linda) Davidson, Jeffrey Davidson, both of Goshen, Steve (Nancy) Davidson, Kimmell, Indiana; one son-in-law, Thomas Crabtree, Milford; one sister, Alice Hill, Monticello, Kentucky; two brothers, Bill Patton, Herbert (Della) Patton, both of Monticello; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Crabtree; one brother, Jesse Patton; one grandson, Nathan Kauffman; and one son-in-law, John Penrose. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and from 9-11 a.m., Thursday, January 14, at Marvin Hicks Funeral Home, Monticello, Kentucky. An 11 a.m., funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Marvin Hicks Funeral Home. Pastor Clyde Adkins will officiate. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery, Monticello, Kentucky. Memorials may be made out to Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
