Mary M. Bragg went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 1 st , 2023.

Mary was born in Fostoria, Ohio on January 23, 1939, to Charles and Mildred (Daugherty) Shultz, who preceded her to Heaven.

Mary’s siblings that also preceded her to Heaven are: Jo Ann (Claude) Keckler, Lucille (Mahlon) Bradford, Donald Shultz, and brother-in-law Leonard Russell.

Her precious younger sister Judy Russell still survives, along with her sister-in-law Shirley Shultz.

Her husband, Harry G. Bragg III is still very much alive (and ornery as ever), will continue to faithfully serve the Lord and carry on the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Mary’s children who survive are: Stephanie (Todd) Lehman, Goshen, and Kevin (Julie) Bragg, Ponder, Texas., and they will make it their goal to honor their mom’s legacy by serving people and sharing the gospel with the lost.

Mary’s grandchildren are: Auston L. (Alicia) Yoder, Derrick J. (Janelle) Julian, Jamie R. Julian, James M. Conner, Khloe M. Bragg

Great Grand Children are, Allie Slone, Archer Yoder, Avery Yoder

Mary had trusted Jesus Christ as a young girl and attended Fostoria Baptist Church, where she learned to fall in love with Jesus and memorize His Word. Then as an adult she rededicated her life to Him and made Him the Lord of her life on March 4, 1968. This began Mary’s lifelong journey and her utmost desire to become more like Jesus.

After High School, Mary moved to Elkhart Indiana to attend Elkhart Business University and began attending First Baptist Church of Elkhart. This is how she met the love of her life Harry G Bragg III, and on August 26, 1962 they were married at McCoy Baptist Church in Elkhart.

On June 4, 1963, she gave birth to their daughter Stephanie Lynn Bragg, and then on November 10, 1965, she gave birth to their son Kevin Andrew Bragg.

Mary was a very proud grandma to Auston L Yoder, Derrick J Julian and Jamie R Julian, James M Conner, and last, but not least, Khloe Marie Bragg.  And if being a grandma wasn’t blessing enough, she was blessed even more when she became a great grandma to Allie Slone, Archer Yoder, and Avery Yoder!

Mary loved serving God and loved serving others. You would often find Mary volunteering in the kitchen at church, or visiting the elderly and shut-ins, to take them Sunday school papers or bulletins or videos of the Sunday messages.  She worked in various daycare facilities through the years as she absolutely loved babies and little children. Mary also loved to clean homes and she did so for many people through the years, but so often all that the person wanted was to spend time talking to Mary, and so she would put down her cleaning rag and just spend time listening and encouraging them.

Mary also loved to bake and was known for her famous Banana Nut Bread and her Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Mary’s journey with Dementia began in 2018, and on May 1 st of 2022 she went to live at Cottage Garden in Goshen, where she was so loved, and adored by all the caregivers. They learned quickly just how much Mary loved her coffee and ice cream, and that mom would have a better day if they gave her something to do, like fold towels or dry dishes. They all realized that Mary had come there to Serve them, and to touch each of their hearts and lives!

Mary lived out the words of Jesus when He said, “I did not come to be served. but to serve”, and she did that until she drew her last breath and stepped into the presence of Jesus.
