Mary Carol Bender

Mary Carol Bender, 89, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, May 5, 2007, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been a patient since February 26.   She was born in Nappanee, Indiana, on December 17, 1917, to Milton and Elizabeth (Stump) Miller. She married Carl F. Bender on December 18, 1938, in New Paris.  He died May 2, 1997.   A New Paris High School and Fort Wayne Beauty College, Mrs. Bender was a homemaker and helped her husband, for 20 years, at the former Bender Grocery Store in New Paris.   She was a member of the Prairieview Missionary Church and enjoyed flowers to crocheting.   She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Amos) Stutzman of Syracuse, Indiana; three sons, Terry M. (Delores) Bender of New Paris, Dennis F. (Judy) Bender of Winona Lake, Indiana and Richard H. (Connie) Bender of Wolcottville, Indiana; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delilah Wolferman of Elkhart, Indiana.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and two sisters, Thelma Miller and Marjorie Troup.   Friends will be received Monday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   A 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at Evergreen Place at Greencroft, Goshen.  Mary Grove, Greencroft Chaplain will officiate.   Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee, Indiana.   Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Care at Home Hospice or Prairieview Missionary Church.
