Mary Ann Miller, 78, of Goshen, died early Friday morning September 12, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She had been in declining health. She was born May 15, 1936 in Elkhart County to Albert J. and Nellie J. (Jones) Slabach. She is survived by three children, Susan K. (Peter) Birchmeier of Owosso, Michigan, Robert C. (Kayrle Sieber) Newcomer of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and Steven R. (Donna) Newcomer of Bristol; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fannie Mae (Richard) Jones of Cape Coral, Florida, Edna Fern Waddell of Goshen; and a brother, Wilbur (Gloria) Slabach of Nova Scotia, Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Phillip E. Miller. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Miller worked as an inspector at Johnson Controls for 42 years. She served on the Penn Credit Union, now Interra Credit Union, Board of Directors for 20 years. She also volunteered for Second Chance Animal Rescue. She enjoyed flower gardening, working in her yard, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Friends may call Sunday, September 14, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m. and an hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service on Monday, September 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army, ALS, Indiana Chapter, and Second Chance Small Dog Rescue.
