Mary Akens

Mary G.E. Akens, 77, of Goshen died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born June 4, 1946 in Goshen to Kenneth and Gertrude (Bush) Plank.

Survivors include four children, Tara Hinkley of Goshen, Tonia (Wally) Blankenship of Elkhart, Tony (Tonya Berkey) Hill of Goshen, and Todd (Sherry) Hill also of Goshen; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Akens, Jr.; son, Tommy Hill; brother, Nicholas Plank; and a sister, Sue Plank.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She especially enjoyed time with her family.

Family will receive friends Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, prior to the 6 p.m. memorial service. Chris Reno will officiate.
