Martha M. "Mickey" Rankin

Martha M. Rankin, 94, of Lakewood, California, formerly of Goshen, died Monday, November 6, 2006 at Alamitos West Convalescent Hospital, California. She was born December 14, 1911, in Michigan, to Bernard S. and Aminda O. (Johnson) Olsen.  She married John G. "Jack" Rankin in 1919 in Saint Claire Shore, Michigan.   He died in August of 1956.   A Goshen resident from 1938 to 1964 on South Sixth Street, Mrs. Rankin moved to South Bay in 1965 and then to Lakewood in 1997.    She is survived by a daughter, Karen M. Rankin of Lakewood, California, a son, Thomas Rankin of Lindenhurst, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  A sister, Doris Belair of Saint Claire Shores, Michigan, and a brother-in-law, Robert Rankin of Northern California, also survive.   She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Rankin and two sons, John Rankin in August 1970 and Robert "Bob" Rankin in September of 1996.   Family and friends will gather at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home for a procession to Violett Cemetery, Goshen, at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2006.  Pastor John von Lackum of the Plymouth United Church of Christ will officiate.
